Public Store facts, plainly handled.

Shopalyzer works without an account. When the extension detects a Shopify Store on a page you chose to visit, it reads public Store information and submits a Snapshot anonymously. That Snapshot is not linked to a Google account or a Visitor profile. Each reading adds one to the Store's daily view count, with no Visitor identity attached to that count.

A Snapshot can include the Store domain, public identity, Shopify Signals and response headers, Base theme, detected Apps, and summary Catalog and Activity figures derived from public Shopify endpoints. These readings create and update the public Store profile on this site. Shopalyzer does not seed the index by crawling Stores you did not visit.

Store views are recorded in private Visit history only when you choose to sign in with Google. If you stay signed out, Shopalyzer stores the anonymous Snapshot but does not create Visit history for you. Signing in stores your Google account identifier, email, name and profile picture URL so the site can show your private history and starred Stores. Your name and picture are public when you discover a Store or appear on the Shoppers leaderboard, unless you switch anonymous on in your profile. Then others see “Anonymous shopper” and a neutral avatar; your contributions still count. Profile pictures load directly from their https URL without a referrer; Shopalyzer does not fetch or host a copy.

Shopify Stores use arbitrary custom domains, so there is no complete list of sites the extension can request in advance. Access to all sites lets Shopalyzer check the page you are viewing automatically. On a page with no Shopify Signal, the extension exits without fetching Store endpoints, submitting a Snapshot, or recording a Visit.

The extension keeps recent card data on your device so repeat Store visits can load without fetching the Store again. A cached reading sends one small request to count the View and, if signed in, record a private Visit. The ingest service briefly stores a one-way hash of the client network address with a request count to enforce a shared rate limit. It is not attached to a Snapshot or Visitor, and expired rate-limit rows are removed.

Public Store profiles and their append-only Snapshots are retained so Shopalyzer can show when Store facts change. Private Visits, stars, and email addresses are never shown on public Store pages. A Store first discovered while signed in credits you as “Found by”; anonymous discoveries are not credited to someone who signs in later. Shopalyzer does not sell personal information.

When a new Snapshot is stored, Shopalyzer also keeps a compressed copy of the public page markup, the identity response and its headers, and every Catalog page fetched. These raw captures are kept in private object storage without a scheduled expiry so extraction mistakes can be repaired and new Store facts can be derived later. They are removed when a Store is delisted.

Opening the interactive map requests tiles directly from CARTO (or OpenStreetMap during local development). The tile provider receives your network address and browser request information to deliver the map. Shopalyzer does not send your account or private Visit history to the tile provider.
